Elizabeth “Betty” Mantkowski passed away on December 1, 2020 at the age of 93.  Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernie, in 1986.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Mantkowski, mother, Anna Hirsch, and father, Joe Hirsch, sister, Dorothy Kovacic, and brothers, Joe, Bernie and Rich Hirsch.  Betty is survived by her sons, Robert (Connie) Mantkowski, Ronald (Lynne) Mantkowski, Gary (Annette) Mantkowski and  Thomas (Mary Beth) Mantkowski; daughter, Bette Kalal (Donald Cerney - significant other); grandchildren, Joe (Honesty) Mantkowski, Margaret (Justin) Garner, Jaqueline (Josh) Illig, David (Megan) Kalal, Steven (Cynthia Schmitz) Kalal, Kevin (Lawrel) Kalal, Karen (Kevin) Mendala, Ernie (Jessica) Mantkowski, Melissa (Jameel Al-Farsi) Mantkowski, Susan (Dan) Conte, Jennifer (Nico) Lindsey, Kate (Matt) Miller, Jeffrey Mantkowski, Beth (Ben) Mixer, Max Mantkowski and Jack Mantkowski; and great-grandchildren,  Olivia and Mara  Mantkowski, Lane and Jackson Garner, Patrick, Ryan and Mollie Kalal, Bradley and Payton Kalal, Mason and Raegan Mendala, Myles and Oscar Mantkowski, Lucy and Layla Lindsey, Teddy Miller, and Evie Mixer.  Betty also leaves behind a special friend, Ralph Festa.  A sincere thank you goes out to her dear friend, Alberta Colombaro, and dear niece, Kathy Alves who cared for Betty in her time of need.  Thank you also to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, Chippewa Place, Family First Elder Care and Home Instead for their care and compassion for Betty.  At Betty’s request, there will be no calling hours.  A private service will be held at Saint Basil the Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio on Saturday, December 5, 2020 commencing at 10:00 AM with internment following at All Saints Cemetery, 480 West Highland Road, Northfield, Ohio. Due to the Coronavirus, masks must be worn in the church and at the cemetery.  Betty’s family intends to have a Celebration of Betty’s Life around the time of her birthday (August 18 th ) next summer when hopefully the Coronavirus is under control and we can enjoy everyone’s company without masks and social distancing.  Donations In lieu of flowers or gifts can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 22730 Fairview Center Drive, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
