Walter Howorka

Walter Howorka, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Beloved husband of Mary “Mitzi” Billovits for over 63 years. Walter was a resident of Seven Hills Ohio for over 43 years and resided in the Cleveland area for over 63 years. Walter was born in Tunis, Tunisia but then grew up in Göttingen, Germany. Walter was the loving Father of Karen Sue Austin, the late Eric Walter(Patti), and Gary Allen(Robin) Howorka. Cherished Opa to Ashley(Colin) Feehan, Lindsay Austin, Mikayla and Bryce Howorka. Opa-pa to Carter and Scarlett Feehan.  Loving Uncle to Errol and Mark Howorka, and Elke Scharner and Berndt Streit. Walter is survived by his sister Waltraud Streit of Kärnten Austria and his sister-in-law, Edeltraud Howorka of Buffalo, NY.Walter is preceded in death by his son, Eric Walter, his brother Berndt Jean, and his parents Hans and Leopoldina “Poldi” (Hanschitz) Howorka. Walter served in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1956-1958. Walter was a retiree from Ford Motor Company where he worked as a tool and die maker for 30 years at the Walton Hills Stamping Plant. Walter was not going to be living on this earth without his beloved “Mitzi”, as he peacefully passed away 16 hours after her. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00AM – 10:45AM at the DONALD A. FAULHABER FUNERAL HOME, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague), Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147 and followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Columbkille Parish, 6740 Broadview Road, Parma, Ohio 44134 at 11:15 AM.   Entombment will be scheduled at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville,  Ohio.
