Vlajko Macanovic

Vlajko Macanovic, 67, of Parma, Ohio, passed away on January 30, 2022 after a 3-month battle with COVID-19. Vlajko was born on September 3, 1954 to Ostoja and Mara Macanovic in Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After graduation, he spent two decades working as an electrician for Union Invest in Sarajevo. In 1983, he married his beloved wife Zeljka, and was blessed with the birth of their lovely children Nikolina and Nikola.

In the early 90s due to the Civil War in the Balkans, he refuged with his family to Germany and later to the United States. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world so he was determined to provide and give them the life they deserved.

In 1998 Vlajko joined I.E.B.W Local Union 683, where he remained a devoted employee until he retired. Throughout his career, he formed many relationships and left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

Vlajko had a gift of making everyone feel like family. His friends describe Vlajko as nothing but kind, caring, wonderful and funny. No matter the circumstance, one would always leave with a story of something funny Vlajko would tell or do while you were with him.

To his family he was a strong, loving, and supportive husband and father. A true hero who never gave up. He was his family's biggest cheerleader in any activity that they were involved in. He spent most of his retirement basking in the joys of having his grandchildren Mia and Maksim around him.

He will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Vlajko is survived by his wife of 39 years, Zeljka, son Nikola and wife Jelena, grandchildren Mia and Maksim, and daughter Nikolina and husband Predrag. Sisters, Dragica and Milica, kumovi, as well as other members of the Macanovic, Mijic and Pavlovic family.

SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7 AT 12 NOON AT St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 2151 W. Wallings Road.  V. Rev. Mijoljub Matic officiating. Interment St. Sava Cemetery.  ARRANGEMENTS BY DONALD A. FAULHABER FUNERAL HOME.
