Reverend Philip P. Pritt laid down his cross and picked up his crown on February 3, 2018. He was born to Paul and Frances Pritt in Akron, Ohio on April 27, 1934. He attended St. Vincent High School, St. Gregory and St. Mary Seminaries. Father Phil served the Diocese of Cleveland for over 50 years beginning with his first priestly assignment at St. William in Euclid, Ohio followed by many other assignments throughout the Diocese ending in residence at St. Matthias, Parma. He is greeted in heaven by his parents Paul and Frances and brothers Ray (Peg, Pam, Mary, Tricia, Michele) and Thomas and by sisters, Dee and Mary Lewis and by great niece Francesca Frisone and by many other family members, friends and fellow priests who supported and prayed for him. He is survived by his sister Rita (Tom) McCaffrey, brother Joe (Cindi) Pritt, and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Vespers will be Friday, February 9, at 3:00 at St. Matthias Church, 1200 W. Sprague Road, Parma. Bishop Nelson Perez will be the principal celebrant. Visitation immediately following vespers until 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 11:00, also at St. Matthias Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff at Marymount Place, especially Sister Mary Alice and Peggy Mathews, who provided a compassionate, Christ-centered living environment for Father Phil and all residents.
