MIKE NIEMCZURA, of Broadview Heights, OH, was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Each of those roles represented a lifetime of fond memories. After graduating from Bowling Green State University, he went to work for Ohio Bell/Ameritech, retiring after 30 years. He was a sports fan who managed his fantasy teams far better than the professionals he followed in real life. He collected sports figurines, and grinned when he shared that his wife called them dolls. He loved and cared for cats. Everyone who has learned of his passing says the same thing, “Mike was such a nice guy!”
Mike didn’t wake up Wednesday morning. He was 73. That came 16 years after surviving quintuple bypass heart surgery. He was 100% devoted to his wife of 51 years, Terry (nee Gaab) Niemczura. Mike was also the loving and involved dad of Jill Scott (Ryan) and Leslie Jankowski (Bil), as well as the proud grandpa of Simon, Declan, Mike and Rowan.
There will be no funeral. The family suggests that contributions in his name can be made to Stay-A-While Cat Shelter, 12662 York-Delta Rd., North Royalton, OH 44133 or online at stayawhilecatshelter.org
