Linda L Hand (nee Paxton), age 83, passed away on 8/5/2024 at her daughter's home on her birthday. Devoted wife of the late John Clinton Hand, Cherished mother of Charlotte Jean Rutledge (Neal), John Clinton Jr., Charles Daniel, Debra Lynn Rice (Thomas). Adored Grandmother/Gaga of Rochelle Rutledge, April Rutledge, Scott Pritchett, Jeremiah (Lauren) Rice, and Jacob Rice. Great-grandmother of Paul Miller Jr., Brooke Rutledge, Leah Miller, Gina Miller and Aubree Rutledge. Dear daughter of the late Elvin and Viola (nee Hunt) Paxton. Linda was the oldest of 12 siblings: Doyle Dewayne, Janet Joyce (Davis), Adena Ann (McCune), Iris Irene, Gary Glenn, Karen Kay (Anderson), Richard Russell, Judy Jane (Sheppard), Deborah Dianne (Taylor), Randall Ray, and Karol Katrina. Dear beloved aunt of so many.
Linda was born in Charleston, West Virginia and spent her childhood between West Virginia and Ohio. While Linda lived in Ohio, she lived with her Aunt Madelyn and Uncle Boyd Hargus along with their son Rogher (Brenda) Hargus, whom she considered and loved as her brother. There Linda met her husband, John Clinton Hand, who lived across the street from her aunt. They met and married at a very young age. They were married for 40 plus years.
Linda was a caring, loving woman with a stubborn streak that showed up every now and then when she set her mind to something she was determined to do. She always tried to make people feel welcome when she met them. She lived a good long life. Although there were challenges, hard times and good times, she was very giving to others, and she loved her family and friends very much.
She had a gift for making crafts and sewing. She loved to play bingo and made many friends there. She loved to sing, and you could always find her singing at home while she was watching kids, cleaning, cooking, or any time she had a song in her head. In school, the music teacher noticed that she could sing and asked her to sing the National Anthem at the school talent show, and she did. She sewed her own dress and made one for her best friend, Charlotte, as well. Linda also made her youngest daughter's wedding dress. Linda loved Chihuahuas and had one of those little dogs most of her life. She had her last dog, Tiny, for almost 17 years, which made Tiny a special part of the family.
We celebrate Linda’s life that began on August 5th and ended on August 5th, which some say to be a complete circle of life. She was a very special person and will be missed and remembered by many.
A memorial will be held by the family on Saturday August 24th from 2-6 p.m. at the family home. 4011 E. Wallings Rd. Broadview Hts, Oh 44147
