Kathleen M Yates

Kathleen Yates, 60, passed in her Broadview Heights home on Friday, March 20th. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Yates, and father, Robert Lewis.  She is survived by her daughters Lauren and Jessica Yates; her mother, Kathleen (Parnell) Iglesias; step-mother, Barbara Petersen; her sisters Sheryl Hamill, Patricia Anderson, and Maureen Canterbury.

Kathleen was born in Torrington, CT, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University in 1981 and her Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University in 1992 where she joined the American Marketing Association. She was fueled by a fast-paced work environment and jumped at challenges with fervor and strength. This ethos served her well after becoming a single parent -- never limiting her daughters’ experiences and moving mountains to get them to every game, lesson, concert, and recital.

Later in life she found joy in serving others. She became involved in volunteer efforts at Cuyahoga Valley Church, lending herself to youth ministry for children with disabilities and supporting local families in need.

Her generous spirit will live on in those that she has touched and should be paid a generous celebration in return. However, due to the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration will be held at Cuyahoga Valley Church at a later date when those she loved can congregate in community safely.
