Ivan Mirkovic

Ivan Mirkovic, age 88, passed away in his sleep on November 30, 2024.  Loving husband of Snezana (nee Drobac) for over 58 years.  Dear father of Svetlana Butler (Robert) and Biljana Mirkovic.   Cherished grandfather of Bianca (Jonathan), Giovanni, Ivana (RJ), Maxim, and Sinisa,  Great-grandfather of Dominic, Junior, Anthony, and Isabella.  Dear brother of Maria Mirkovich (Frank Byndas) and Nick Mirkovich (Debbie).  Uncle to Slavica (Dusko).  Dear uncle, kum, and friend of many.

Immigrating to the United States from  former Yugoslavia in 1964, Ivan devoted himself to becoming an American Citizen.  He has preserved and shared the traditions of his homeland as an instructor and choreographer for the Cleveland Serbian dance group, Ravna Gora, an accomplished musician with his band, Sloboda, a Sunday School teacher, principal, Secretary and President at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church.  He has set an example of service and achievement worthy of emulation.

Ivan was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle and has willingly shared his wisdom and skills with his family, friends, and neighbors.  He meant so much to so many, and has enriched the lives of everyone who has known him over the years.  He was a gifted leader, organizer, speaker, musician, and writer. A man of exceptional integrity, he was diligent in all of his endeavors.  No matter what he undertook, he always did it from the heart, and used his talents to benefit those around him.

With a laugh that was easily recognizable from anywhere in a room, Ivan was loved and respected by all who knew him.  The legacy that he has left on earth is far reaching, and deserving of the highest praise.

FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE DONALD A. FAULHABER FUNERAL HOME, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague) where services will be held on Friday, December 6 at 12 noon and from St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 2151 W. Wallings Road at 12:15 PM.  V. Rev. Mijoljub Matic officiating.

Interment St. Sava Cemetery.

VISITATION THURSDAY at the funeral home 4-8 pm with a POMEN service at 7:30 PM.  and on Friday at the funeral home from 10 am-12 noon.
