Fayiz A. Salwan, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at age 91.  He was the loving son of Abdu and Labibe Salwan (deceased).  Beloved husband of Monica (Jezeski) Salwan of 55 years.  Dear father of Christopher (Kimberly), Mary Miller (Brent), Jerome (Jennifer), Bernadette Smalley (Marvin) and Germaine Martin (Blair).  Loving and dedicated grandfather (Giddo) to 14 beautiful grandchildren, Zachery & Jacob Salwan, Paige, Gabrielle & Alex Miller, Thaddeus & Jocelyn Salwan, Alexa, Elizabeth & Chase Smalley, Isabel, Anneliese, Giada & Enzo Martin.

Brother to deceased siblings, Maroun (Violet), Elias, Raja, and Fr. Bechara Salwan and sister Ilda (Hikmat) Rizk.  Survived by sisters-in-law Blanche Salwan and Azize Saluan.  Uncle and great uncle to many.

Fayiz attended the American University of Beirut, Lebanon graduating with a Doctor of Medicine.  Thereafter, he further specialized his training in General Surgery and Surgical Oncology.  He was board certified in Surgical Oncology.  He was a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, member of the American College of Surgery, and James Ewing Society of Surgical Oncology.  He practiced at Parma Hospital for more than 30 years, ten of which he was the Chairman of the Department of Surgery.  While at Parma he established the Hospital Cancer Program and was appointed as a member of the Field Liaison of the Commission on Cancer.   He retired in January 2000 after many years of dedicated service.  He touched countless lives by his gift as a surgeon.  After retirement he enjoyed gardening and watching his grandchildren grow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Road, Parma, 44134 and St. Maron Church, 7800 Brookside Road, Independence 44131.

FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE DONALD A. FAULHABER FUNERAL HOME, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague) on Monday, December 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Private family services and entombment.
