FRANKLIN R. MELENA, age 83. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Srozynski) for 59 years. Dear father of Mark (Colleen), Nancy (Jerry) Bennett, Michael (Barbara), Kent (Cheryl), Scott (Jill), Donna (Phillip) Brickman and Kimberlee (Jason) Leach. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Beth, Ryan and Brett Melena; Jessica Bennett; Amy and Joey Melena; Franklin, Heather, Emily and Bradley Melena; Leah, Keith, Evan and Luke Brickman and Reganne, Mackenzie and Kerrington Leach. Brother of Donald (Adrian) and Ralph (deceased) (Rose). A loyal friend and loved uncle of many. A lifetime Cleveland area resident, Frank attended Garfield Heights High School, where he was captain of the football team. He served his country in Europe during WWII as a tank battalion sergeant. After his discharge, Frank enrolled at John Carroll University and later received an engineering degree from Fenn College. He was a longtime partner in the Wheeler and Melena Engineering firm and served as city engineer for Garfield Heights, Brooklyn Heights, and other local municipalities for many years. Private family burial at Rittman, National Veterans Cemetery, at a later date.
