Frank R. Merrill, a long-time resident of the Richfield area, died unexpectedly Monday the 2nd of October. Born in 1932 in Yeadon, Pa., Frank graduated from the College of Wooster where he met his beloved wife of 62 years, Lorraine. Together they had four beautiful children, Lee, Beth, Rusty and Tom, and embarked on many creative endeavors, including writing several musicals, renovating their century Victorian home, and creating the Power of the Pen writing program. In the mid-seventies, Frank served as Chairman of the Classics Department at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., where he taught Latin, Greek, Archeology and Roman History. He is also a published author and accomplished pianist/composer. In addition to his children and wife, Frank is survived by his grandchildren: Michael and Emsie Hapner; Mollie and Jeff Driscoll; Noah and Sarah Dixon; Tyler and Elise Cranston-Merrill; and Maggie and Abbey Merrill; as well as the spouses of his children: David Hapner and Scott Dixon; and a much-loved brother, John.
