Nickolas M. Borato passed away peacefully on July 16. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Anne, brothers George and Milan and sister Evelyn. He is survived by brother Jake. Nick was a devoted father to Michael (Bridget,) Tim (Fran,) and Pauline Bergert (Jim) and djedo (grandfather) to Meghan, Meryl, Nick (Morgan,) Michelle, Lauren and Andre. Nick was born and raised in Midland, PA and his roots in that community remained strong. He served his country during WWII in the Navy. Upon moving to Cleveland, Nick and Anne raised their family and he began his 41-year career with the Plain Dealer in 1952, first as a printer and later as the treasurer/manager of The Plain Dealer Credit Union. Nick and Anne were very involved in their church, St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. Both were very active in the choir and Nick served as national president of the Serbian Singing Federation. He was instrumental in building the Monastery Marcha Church in Richfield, Ohio and was awarded the “Order of St. Sava,” 2nd Degree, by +His Holiness Patriarch Pavle. Nick will be dearly remembered by his many family, kumovi, and friends. Please join us in celebrating Nick’s life.
