Carl Schmitt

CARL L. SCHMITT age 93 of Broadview Heights, Ohio passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Springmeade Nursing Home, Tipp City. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 5, 1923 the son of Carl & Monica (Wiesenseal) Schmitt. Carl was a veteran of the Army Air Force and he served in WWII. He delivered Meals on Wheels, was a lifelong blood donor and a member of the Church of the Assumption in Broadview Heights. He is survived by his 3 children Mark (Gloria) Schmitt, Craig (Carole) Schmitt and Eric (Shirley) Schmitt, grandchildren Tracy (Jason) Karakas, Suzanne (Patrick) Sears, Monica (Ray) Hill, Sheryl (Mark) Malyn, and Steve (Jane) Vogel; great grandchildren Brian, Luci, Sierra, Kelsey, Derrick and Emily, a sister Rosemary Slattery and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 66 years Chetty (Durkalski) in 2012, a daughter Deborah Schmitt, a grandson Brian Schmitt, a brother John Schmitt and a sister Mary Monica Schmitt. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Faulhaber Funeral Home, 7915 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147. Burial will follow in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio. A In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carl's memory to the American Red Cross.
