Frank J. Kozelka, age 69, passed away July 30, 2015. Beloved son of the late Frank C. Kozelka and the late June (nee Koptis). Dear brother of Anne, the late Charles P. (survived by Geralyn), and Kay. Uncle of June (Gary James) Jancsurak, Karen (Christopher) Gutgesell, and Charles J. (Marie). Great-Uncle of five. Frank was very athletic. After playing football and wrestling at Brecksville High School, Frank played football and was a two year letterman in wrestling at John Carroll University. Upon graduation from John Carroll in 1967, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant from the Army ROTC program at John Carroll. He graduated from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1970 and passed the Ohio Bar Examination the same year. Beginning in October 1970, he served on active duty in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia. He took and passed the Florida Bar Examination in 1971. Frank began his legal career as a law clerk for the Common Pleas Court for Cuyahoga County and later was an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, criminal division, for five years. Afterwards, he went into private practice following in the footsteps of his father. For many years Frank was assigned to represent indigent defendants in all major felonies. Since 1978 Cuyahoga County Probate Court has assigned Frank to protect the rights of the mentally ill in involuntary civil commitment cases. Frank has defended clients charged with DUI in many municipalities. Frank loved to travel. He started going to the beach at Treasure Island, Florida in 1957 and continued going there as recently as this April. During his twenty trips to Maine, he loved spending time on the beaches of Kennebunkport and Ogunquit. Frank loved downhill skiing and skied the Alps ten times. He enjoyed playing golf. He had many diverse interests, including reading the Wall Street Journal, attending classical music concerts at local colleges, and attending the Ohio Light Opera at the College of Wooster. M. and from St. Basil Church, 8700 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, Ohio at 10:00 A.M. Interment Calvary Cemetery. VISITING HOURS Tuesday August 4, 2015 from 2-4 P.M. and 6:30-8:30 P.M.
