THEODORE W. (“TED”) BATT passed away at home on December 3rd with his beloved family at his side. Ted was born in Buffalo, New York, on December 24, 1918, the seventh of 13 children of New York State Supreme Court Justice Paul J. Batt and his wife Antoinette. He was a graduate of Canisius College and a proud and decorated veteran of World War II, where he served for 40 months in campaigns in North Africa and throughout the European Theatre. In 1948, he married Elizabeth (“Betty”) Hiemenz, who remained his wife and love for over 65 years. They had three sons, Theodore J. (“Ted”), John Paul (“Jack”) and William G. (“Bill”), and a daughter; Elizabeth, who died as an infant. After his retirement from a long career as a research chemist, Ted and Betty became world travelers and avid volunteers, dedicating their time and efforts to support programs at Parma Hospital, Assumption Parish and Broadview Heights senior services. Ted is survived by his wife Betty; his sons Ted (Jackie), Jack (Mara Cushwa) and Bill; his grandchildren Theodore T. Batt (Molly McKenna), Dr. Amy Batt Willis (Scott), Dr. Courtney Batt, Stephanie Batt and Emma Batt; his great-grandchildren Simon, Milo and Elena; his brothers Jerome (Dorothy) and David (Pat), and his sister Beatrice Leous. A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7th, at Assumption Church in Broadview Heights.
