Walter Andrew Keller

Walter A. Keller, Beloved husband of Mary Helen (nee Masarik) for 70 years. Loving father of Gregory (deceased-1991), Deborah (Jim) Motylinski, Eric (Emilie), Kurt, Karl, and Lisa. Grandfather of Katy, Adriana, Jimmy, Michael, Rebecca, JC, Leslie, Clint, Meg, and Alexis. Great grandfather of many. Brother of Dolores Sinton (deceased). During WWII Walt flew with the 98th Bomber group. On August 1, 1943 this group flew out of northern Africa to Ploesti oil fields in Romania. This was a low level mission, to avoid radar. In fact, they flew so low over Ploesti that the surviving planes had corn stalks in the bomb bays. It is claimed as one of the most daring and highly decorated missions of the war. After the war Walt got a degree at Fenn College. Walt and Mary raised four sons and two daughters. Walt had a family of “jocks” Mary was ranked number 1 in senior tennis, in Cleveland, in 1977. Three sons had college football scholarships. Greg was an all-American candidate in football at the University of Pittsburgh in 1967. However, he received career ending injuries. Lisa, their youngest daughter, went to New Mexico State on a tennis scholarship. Eric was a scholastic standout on Academic Challenge. Debbie was Miss Broadview Heights pageant winner. Walt retired in 1983 from the Parker Hannifin Corp. He had worked there for 30 years as a purchasing agent. Walt was active with VFW Post 7609.
