Thomas B Yassanye

Thomas Yassanye, longtime resident of Richfield and Akron, died peacefully Sunday, May 20, at the age of 86. Thomas was born in Cleveland, OH. on March 5, 1926. He graduated from North Royalton High School and was on active duty in the United States Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He enlisted on March 1, 1944 and was Honorably Discharged on May 17, 1946. Thomas was a bricklayer by trade in addition to his employment with Consolidated Freightway. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed roller skating with longtime friend Ann Kinches, as well as traveling throughout the United States. Beloved father of Denis ( Beverly) of Chewelah, WA., Diane ((Eric) Swanson of Chicago, IL., Debra Dech of Colorado Springs, CO., Daryl (Terry) Abbott of Greenwater, WA., David (deceased), and Darin (Lois) of New Port Richey, FL.. Dear brother of Rosemary(Stuart) Collingwood of Kelley’s Island, OH, and Rita Rusnak of Midland, TX. Grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 9. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his memory and name to Amvets National Headquarters, 4647 Forbes Blvd., Lanham, MD 20706. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 12:00 PM at the DONALD A. FAULHABER FUNERAL HOME, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague), followed by a gathering at Creekside Restaurant, 8803 Brecksville Road, Brecksville. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
