Veronica Shutway Profile Photo

On Apr 10, 1927 Veronica Spiga Shutway began her wonderful journey on a farm in Flushing Oh, in a house full of love, a pot-bellied stove, no indoor plumbing and no electricity. Poor but never knew it, as she said. Daughter of Margaret (Suty) & Joseph Spiga, sister to John, Joe, Andy, Stephan and Rudolf, Margaret and Virginia (Triplett). Her mother and father instilled a love of God; Church on Sundays, not work, and rosaries on long car trips. From a 1-room school house she became valedictorian of her high school class and went on to become the indisputable leader in her family in spelling, waste not, want not, she was a collector of everything important to her. Married a good Slovak boy (Frank) who lived a stone's throw away, after he went to Europe & back in WWII. Settled in Cleveland, met lifelong friends at East Ohio Gas then moved to Broadview Hts to raise a family of 4. she is survived by her children; Dennis, Cathy (Dave Sabo), Jerry, Karen (Vance Caudill), grandchildren; Melanie, Jenny, Morgan, Aaron and Adrianne. Blessed with wonderful neighbors she car-pooled to church and events with many a friend after her husband died July 6, 1981.
